The Royal Society
Effective Delegation
Doron delivered a tailored masterclass on Effective Delegation to a talented team of managers from different parts of The Royal Society. The organisation, which is the independent scientific academy of the UK, is dedicated to promoting excellence in science for the benefit of humanity.
With an initial consideration of what might be the typical barriers to delegation, the managers then offered helpful insights about the important flipside to such hurdles: the benefits of delegation to them, to colleagues delegated to and to the organisation as a whole.
Aspire designed the masterclass to examine the topic through the lens of what type of work could (and should!) be delegated, who it would be delegated to and, importantly, the how.
Through interactive exercises, as well as small group and plenary discussions, the group explored approaches and tools to support them with identifying tasks and responsibilities that could be delegated to empower their team members. The session also looked at how managers could develop clear communication strategies for setting expectations and providing detailed instructions and feedback.
The managers brought a thoughtful attitude to the masterclass, demonstrating how important it was to them to develop their colleagues as well as enhance the efficiency of work processes within their teams.
We were buoyed by the following feedback which the managers shared about the day:
Doron was fantastic and the set-up (small number of participants, lots of moving around the room) made it really engaging. Including lots of time for personal reflections and stories from the delegates was very welcome. In particular, spending time in the training reflecting on what could have been delegated (but wasn’t) was eye-opening. Thanks again, great session.
This was a great training session, I got a lot out of it. Doron is a fantastic facilitator with a calm and confident manner. I was impressed by how he both had prepared material and also carefully noted individual needs and came back to practicing them with each person. Would definitely recommend.
Doron was an incredible facilitator. By far the best training I’ve attended so far!
