GS Plus

Annemarie and Kitty had the opportunity to support over twenty managers at GS Plus across two, 2-day management development programmes.

The aim of the sessions was to provide support to managers after they had navigated a challenging 2+ years during the Covid pandemic. In that time managers had risen to the challenge in above-and-beyond ways to handle the many changes that were needed in order to safely deliver key services to the Borough.

The training sessions provided a forum for managers to recognise the management approaches that they were already using effectively while also refreshing their skills and gaining new tools and techniques they could apply to support their teams.

A highlight for us was hearing the managers acknowledging the many ways in which they had successfully led their teams through an unprecedented level of change. It’s unique for managers to have a chance to celebrate collectively in this way, and we were honoured to have been able to share in those conversations.

Reflections on the training sessions in the managers’ words:

The training events took place at the right time due to the changes within the workplace relating to Covid and Hybrid working. Both trainers were very informative, provided lots of energy throughout the day and allowed the delegated to share ideas and personal concerns.


Despite 2 full non-consecutive days of training the energy remained high as there was a lots of moving around and working with different groups. The feedback from managers within the Company have all been positive.


Take a step back, think about what would be the best approach before saying what needs to be said. Think about the task you are requiring to be done, provide confidence to the team member. Ensure they know that you are always approachable.
